About the CEO

Abdus Salaam Rashaad is the visionary entrepreneur behind Dank City Grow Rooms. Growing up in D.C.’s Ward 8 during the crack epidemic, he saw firsthand the challenges his community faced. Before going to prison, he worked with the STEP Foundation (Strategies to Elevate People) and founded his own nonprofit, MANN Inc. (Making A Neighborhood Network).

 

Since returning home, he has served as a credible messenger for another D.C. nonprofit, working closely with youth and the community. Now, through Dank City Grow Rooms, he transforms that lifelong commitment into a new way of building community—creating a supportive grow environment where relationships and knowledge can flourish.
